Importance of prayer (Salah) according to the Quran and Hadith’s

Prayer is the second pillar of Islam. It is a way that connects a human with their creators, So Islam advices his followers to pray five time in a day. Daily five times prayer are obligatory for all Muslims. Islam told the value of prayer time through Quranic Ayats and Prophet Hadith’s. Here are some Ayat and Hadith on the importance of Salah.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“When man prostrates upon reciting a verse of prostration, Satan moves away from that place by crying and says, ‘I was destroyed. Man was ordered to prostrate and he did; thus, he deserved Paradise. I was also ordered to prostrate but I avoided prostrating. I deserve hellfire.’” (from Sahih Muslim: 81)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

…So if something is deficient in his obligatory (prayers) then the Lord, Mighty and Sublime says: ‘Look! Are there any voluntary (prayers) for my worshipper?’ So with them, what was deficient in his obligatory (prayers) will be completed. Then the rest of his deeds will be treated like that. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 413)”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Whoever attends Isha (prayer) in congregation, then he has (the reward as if he had) stood half of the night. And whoever prays Isha and Fajr in congregation, then he has (the reward as if he had) spend the entire night standing (in prayer).” (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 221)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“O Fatima! If you want to meet me in the hereafter, increase your prostrations (that is, perform prayers more.)” (Musnad Ahmad)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“I made it fard for your ummah to perform five daily prayers. And I made a promise to myself: If someone comes to me by paying attention to performing five daily prayers, I will send him to Paradise. I have nothing to say for the one who does pay attention to prayers.” (Abu Dawud)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The two Rak’ah before the dawn (Fajr) prayer are better than this world and all it contains.” [Muslim]……. (Riyad as-Salihin 1102)

Reported by Abu Hurayra:

 “…then, the Prophet (pbuh) visits a group of people whose heads are smashed and broken by stones. Their heads are smashed by stones and then are restored; the torture goes on like that. The Prophet (pbuh) asks, ‘O Jibril (Gabriel)! Who are they?’ Jibril answers, ‘They are those who perform fard prayers lazily.’” (Mundhiri, Bukhari)

It is mentioned in the Quran:

O ye who believe! seek help with patient perseverance and prayer; for Allah is with those who patiently persevere. [2:153]

in another place Quran says:

“Say: “Shall I seek for judge other than Allah? – when He it is Who hath sent unto you the Book, explained in detail.” They know full well, to whom We have given the Book, that it hath been sent down from thy Lord in truth. Never be then of those who doubt.” [6:114]

Here Quran describes believer:

“You shall glorify and praise your Lord and be with the prostrators, and worship your Lord until you attain certainty.” [15:98-99]
